Keyamo Criticizes Atiku Over Claims About Fuel Subsidy Policy
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has made strong accusations against former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. He claims Atiku is struggling with what he calls “agitated depression” due to President Bola Tinubu adopting a proposal for a targeted subsidy on locally refined petrol.
Keyamo stated that Atiku’s bitterness stems from his inability to accept Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election. He described Atiku as a “pained and very bitter fellow,” suggesting that Atiku’s recent criticisms of the President are rooted in disappointment over his own political failures.
In a statement shared on social media, Keyamo said, “The pain and bitterness stem from the fact that he feels President Bola Tinubu finally outsmarted him politically.” He emphasized that Atiku’s behavior is a sign of deeper mental health issues.
Keyamo reflected on the political careers of both leaders, noting that while Tinubu was the governor of Lagos State, Atiku served as vice-president under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He pointed out that both politicians have sought the presidency since leaving office in 2007, with Tinubu achieving success on his first attempt, while Atiku has been pursuing this goal for many years.
Keyamo attributed Tinubu’s win to a mix of fate, luck, divine intervention, and political skill. He urged Atiku’s supporters to help him rather than fuel his criticisms of the President, suggesting that they should offer him mental health support instead.
In conclusion, Keyamo warned that Atiku’s current political stance could alienate his supporters and indicated that the former vice-president is fading from the political scene.
