Jigawa ADC Throws Weight Behind Atiku’s Plan to Bring Back Petrol Subsidy

The Jigawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has declared full support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s policy proposal to restore the petrol subsidy, citing the urgent need to alleviate widespread economic hardship across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the state executive committee, party leaders highlighted that the complete deregulation of fuel prices has severely crippled household purchasing power. They noted that the resulting surge in transport fares, food inflation, and operational costs for small businesses has left millions of ordinary Nigerians struggling to meet basic daily needs.

The party maintained that while structural economic reforms are important, public policy must prioritize human welfare and social protection. ADC officials argued that returning to a regulated fuel pricing model—managed with strict oversight and transparency—would provide immediate relief to vulnerable families and stabilize local markets.

Calling on opposition parties and political leaders to unite around citizen-centered solutions, the Jigawa ADC urged government authorities to reassess ongoing economic policies. The party emphasized that cushioning the impact of inflation on working-class citizens remains essential for sustaining national economic stability and social peace.
