INEC Delivers Sensitive Election Materials to CBN in Osogbo Under Tight Security

Preparations for the Osun State governorship election have hit final gear as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) successfully delivered sensitive voting materials to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) branch in Osogbo.

The consignment, containing customized ballot papers, official result sheets, and BVAS accreditation machines, arrived under armed security escorts drawn from a joint tactical team of security agencies.

To ensure total transparency and reinforce public confidence in the electoral process, the handover was conducted in the open before accredited stakeholders. Officials permitted party agents from participating political parties, election monitors, and civil society representatives to inspect the delivery containers and verify that the security seals were unbroken.

Following the receipt of the items, security around the CBN premises along the Gbongan-Osogbo Road has been significantly reinforced. Armed patrol teams, sniffer dog units, and perimeter surveillance teams have cordoned off the area to forestall any security breach or unauthorized movement.

Electoral authorities confirmed that the materials will remain locked inside the CBN vaults until the final distribution exercise, where they will be systematically sorted and moved under heavy escort to electoral storage hubs across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas for timely deployment to polling units.
