INEC Approves 19 Candidates for 2027 Rivers State Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the names of 19 candidates approved to compete in the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State, Nigeria. This list includes Chinda Kingsley Ogundu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Dumo Lulu-Briggs from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Other candidates on the list are Gabriel Pidomson Baritulem from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chibuzor Rain from the Action Alliance (AA), and several others representing different political parties. These include West Ivy from the Action Alliance of Nigeria (AAN), Lawson Angel from the Action Democratic Party (ADP), and Idoniboye-Obu Omangima from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The complete list features candidates from various parties, such as Whyte Dagogo of the Action Peoples Movement (APM), Atata Kenneth of the Action Peoples Party (APP), and Benjamin Oli from the Boot Party (BP). Additionally, candidates from the Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and others are included.

The final list was signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oran-Anthony and was made public on Saturday evening. This marks an important milestone as political parties prepare for the upcoming election.
