Adebutu Promises Local Government Autonomy and Development for Ogun Border Communities

The governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has promised to focus on local government autonomy and the development of border communities if he wins the 2027 election. He made this commitment during a campaign rally in Remo, Ogun State.

Adebutu shared details of his ‘Itura De’ agenda, which aims to give more power to local governments. He believes that local governments should be able to address their communities’ specific needs and set their own development goals without outside interference.

He stated that having strong local governments would help them respond better to residents’ concerns and carry out projects that improve their quality of life. “Governance should be felt at the grassroots, where its impact matters most to ordinary citizens,” he said.

In addition to local government issues, Adebutu emphasized the need to invest in border communities. He argued that improving infrastructure and supporting economic activities in these areas could boost Ogun State’s economy. He noted that Ogun’s closeness to Lagos offers many opportunities for trade and investment.

At the same rally, Alhaji Abdul-Hameed Femi Omotayo, the PDP’s candidate for Ogun East senatorial district, spoke about the need for visible development in the area. He expressed concerns about the slow pace of progress in Sagamu, mentioning that the current administration has not made enough improvements.

Omotayo highlighted the importance of creating jobs and improving infrastructure to support local communities, especially for young people. He pointed out that poor roads and limited job opportunities are significant barriers to development in the district.
