Gombe Governor Urges New Appointees to Focus on Service and Efficiency

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has urged his newly appointed commissioners and special advisers to enhance their service delivery. He warned that his administration will not tolerate inefficiency as it nears the end of its eight-year term in 2027. Yahaya made these remarks during the swearing-in ceremony at the International Conference Centre in Gombe.

The governor explained that these appointments aim to strengthen governance and ensure that ongoing projects are completed before his administration concludes. He reflected on the progress made since he took office in May 2019, despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturns.

Yahaya stressed that the new appointees should view their roles as a commitment to public service rather than opportunities for personal gain. He called for diligence, sacrifice, and sound judgment, emphasizing that the remaining months of his administration should be marked by renewed energy and effective service delivery.

The governor instructed the commissioners to familiarize themselves with their ministries’ policies and work closely with senior officials to manage resources wisely. He also tasked the special advisers with providing timely recommendations to improve decision-making and address challenges.

Yahaya highlighted key areas for investment, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture, and warned against corruption and abuse of office. He encouraged teamwork among all public officials and commended the state House of Assembly for their prompt confirmation of the new appointees.

As his administration approaches the 2027 transition, Yahaya reaffirmed his goal of leaving Gombe State in a better condition than it was in 2019. He urged residents to support the new officials in their efforts to foster peace and sustainable development.
