FCT Police Arrest 11 Suspects Linked to Armed Robbery and Kidnapping
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 11 people suspected of armed robbery and kidnapping. The police recovered three homemade pistols, 38 mobile phones, and other stolen items during the arrests.
Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi announced the arrests during a press briefing in Abuja. He stated that police operations have increased to maintain safety in the area.
On September 17, police tracked down two wanted robbery suspects, Jamilu Abdulsalam and Ibrahim Isa Sani, on the AYA-Nyanya Expressway. The police said this group operates in Abuja and nearby states, carefully choosing their targets before attacking them.
In another incident, Chibuike Odeh was arrested for robbing a woman on September 26. He attacked her as she returned home from work, stealing her handbag with an iPhone and later withdrawing money from her accounts using her ATM card.
Additionally, an eight-member group known for ‘one-chance’ robbery was apprehended after robbing the wife of a police officer in August. They took her phone and emptied her bank account. The police used digital technology to track the suspects and recover 21 mobile phones and three laptops.
Sanusi noted that some suspects specialize in changing the identification numbers of stolen phones to avoid detection. He urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the police.
