Driver Survives Train Collision with Car in Lagos Without Injuries

A 55-year-old man was unharmed after a train collided with his Honda car at the PWD railway line in Lagos. The incident left the vehicle severely damaged and caused traffic disruptions in the area.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the train was heading towards Agege when the accident occurred. The car, which had the registration number EKY 902 JT, was described as virtually a complete write-off.

According to LASTMA, despite the serious damage to the car, the driver miraculously escaped without any injuries. No casualties were recorded at the scene.

At around 7:20 am, onlookers helped push the car off the tracks while traffic officers and emergency responders managed the situation. LASTMA noted that their personnel played a key role in clearing the obstruction and allowing the train to continue its journey.

Traffic congestion remained a problem around the PWD area even after the wrecked vehicle was removed. The damaged car was handed over to security personnel for further investigation into the cause of the collision.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, praised the quick response of those involved and emphasized the importance of acting promptly during transport emergencies. He urged drivers to be cautious at railway crossings and avoid crossing the tracks when a train is approaching.

LASTMA also reminded motorists to follow traffic and railway safety rules to prevent similar accidents in the future.
