DLA Governorship Candidates Support Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid for 2027
Governorship candidates from the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) have announced their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. They stated that their party does not have a presidential candidate of its own.
The candidates made their announcement during a press conference in Abuja, led by Hon. Aboki Bayonga, who is also the DLA’s governorship candidate for Taraba State. They emphasized their commitment to using their local networks to help secure Tinubu’s victory.
Bayonga explained that their support for Tinubu does not mean they have abandoned their own political ambitions. They plan to continue pursuing governorship, senatorial, and other positions within the DLA.
The decision to back Tinubu was made after discussions among party members, who recognized that without a presidential candidate, supporting Tinubu was the best option. Bayonga noted that they believe Tinubu’s administration has made significant progress that deserves more time to continue.
He highlighted various government initiatives, including improvements in education, agriculture, and road construction, as reasons for their endorsement. The candidates believe that a second term for Tinubu would allow him to complete important projects that require long-term planning.
Despite their support for Tinubu, the candidates ruled out joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that they want to remain with the DLA. They also expressed confidence that their connections with voters will help mobilize support for the President.
Bayonga reassured that the presidency is determined by the will of the people and the Constitution, dismissing any concerns about a potential life presidency.
