Application Platform for 5,000 Homes in Lagos Set to Open Soon

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is preparing to launch an application platform for Nigerians interested in buying homes through the Renewed Hope Housing Programme. This initiative will provide 5,000 housing units in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, in partnership with Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited.

The project was announced during a groundbreaking ceremony held recently at Lekki Aviation Town. It aims to deliver the housing units within 36 months across various locations, including Lekki Aviation Town, The Parliament, and GranVille Estate.

As the application platform approaches, potential buyers are encouraged to explore mortgage options through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and other mortgage banks. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, highlighted the significant housing shortage in Nigeria, which affects around 120 million people.

Darma mentioned that the government is also considering a broader social housing program, which would involve building 100 housing units in each local government area, along with a plan for 100,000 new homes. Ongoing assessments are being conducted to account for varying construction costs across different states.

Abdullahi Mosadoluwa, the Managing Director of Harmony Gardens, emphasized that the partnership aims to make home ownership more accessible through structured mortgage financing and flexible payment plans. He encouraged Nigerians, especially parents and citizens living abroad, to take advantage of this opportunity.

During the ceremony, traditional leaders praised the government’s collaboration with local developers and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver the project. They acknowledged the positive impact of the company on community development and infrastructure.
