APC Chairman Claims Polls Show Tinubu Will Win 2026 Election

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, stated that internal polls show President Bola Tinubu is likely to win the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2026. He made these comments during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

Yilwatda expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances, highlighting that the APC is not concerned about competition from opposition parties like the African Democratic Party (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). He noted that these parties have not won any significant elections recently, which he believes gives the APC an edge.

According to Yilwatda, the party’s research and polling data indicate that Tinubu is leading in various states. He emphasized that the APC has implemented tax laws that support the poorest citizens, claiming these measures have increased government revenue.

In terms of energy, Yilwatda mentioned that the APC government has allowed state governments to manage electricity generation and distribution. He reassured the public that current challenges, such as rising fuel costs, are temporary and that Nigerians continue to support the party.

Yilwatda also addressed concerns about corruption within the party, insisting that no member is shielded from prosecution. He stated that some APC members are facing legal challenges and appear in court regularly.

To address internal issues stemming from recent party primaries, Yilwatda said the APC is taking a three-pronged approach. He also mentioned that the party is reviewing its presidential campaign council and will announce its formation soon.
