Lagos To Begin Night-Time Repairs on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road To Ease Traffic

The Lagos State Government has announced that it will commence extensive night-time repair works on a critical section of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road. The project, which is set to begin on Monday, September 15, 2025, will focus on the stretch starting from the Bonny Camp junction. The repair work is part of the government’s ongoing effort to maintain the state’s road infrastructure and ensure smoother vehicular movement.

According to a statement from the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the decision to carry out the repairs at night was deliberate. The aim is to significantly reduce the impact on the massive traffic volume that uses the road during the day. The work is scheduled to take place daily from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and is expected to be completed within one week, concluding on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Ozumba Mbadiwe Road serves as a key artery for commuters traveling between the Lekki axis, Victoria Island, and Ikoyi. The government has advised motorists and residents to be patient and cooperate with traffic enforcement agencies throughout the repair period. While minor delays may still occur, the night-time schedule is intended to ensure minimal disruption to the daily lives of Lagosians.

The Ministry of Transportation assured the public that once completed, the rehabilitated section will provide a safer and more seamless travel experience for all road users.
