APGA Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election, Aims for 50% Votes in Anambra
The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. This announcement was made by Anambra Governor Prof. Charles Soludo during the launch of APGA’s national campaign in Awka on Friday.
Governor Soludo stated that APGA currently does not have its own candidate and has decided to adopt Tinubu as their preferred choice. He emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to the Igbo people, particularly those in Anambra, noting his past appointments of Anambra residents to key positions while he was governor of Lagos State.
Soludo explained that APGA has previously supported the presidential candidate of the ruling party, making this endorsement a continuation of that trend. He firmly declared, “We don’t have a presidential candidate; Tinubu is our candidate.”
In the 2023 presidential election, Anambra recorded about 5,000 votes for Tinubu. Despite this small number, Soludo praised the president for addressing various issues affecting the state and the Southeast region.
The governor called on the people of Anambra to rally behind Tinubu in the upcoming election, stating that this support would enhance the state’s ability to engage with the Federal Government for development. He expressed a goal of securing 50 percent of the votes in Anambra for Tinubu in the 2027 elections, saying, “We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the center and negotiate for the development of the Southeast and Anambra.”
