NDC Urges Nigerians to Vote Against Growing Debt Burden in 2027 Elections

NDC Urges Nigerians to Vote Against Growing Debt Burden in 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), an opposition party in Nigeria, is urging citizens to participate in the 2027 general elections. They want voters to demand accountability and responsible management of the country’s finances.

The NDC’s call comes as President Bola Tinubu seeks approval from the National Assembly for a new borrowing plan of $7.7 billion, which the party claims will increase the country’s debt burden. They argue that this debt will affect future generations.

Dr. Chiogo Constance Ikokwu, the party’s spokesperson, emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections. She encouraged Nigerians to vote for NDC candidates Peter Obi and Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on January 16, 2027. Ikokwu pointed out that just as Americans participated in their elections, Nigerians should also exercise their right to vote.

Ikokwu criticized President Tinubu’s borrowing practices, stating that the National Assembly appears to approve loans without proper scrutiny. She believes that the electorate holds the power to change the government through their votes.

The NDC warns that the country’s economic future is at risk due to excessive borrowing and mismanagement of public funds. They are calling on citizens to take action and vote for a government that prioritizes transparency and responsible resource management.
