Lionel Messi Aims for Second Straight MLS Golden Boot After Key Goal

Lionel Messi is on track to win his second consecutive Major League Soccer (MLS) Golden Boot. He achieved this by scoring the winning goal in a match where Inter Miami defeated New England Revolution 2-1 on Sunday.

With this latest goal, Messi has now scored 26 goals this season, putting him four goals ahead of his nearest competitor, Petar Musa from FC Dallas. Last season, Messi won his first Golden Boot by netting 29 goals in 28 games.

The 39-year-old forward is poised to make history as the first player to win back-to-back MLS Golden Boot awards since the league started using its current goals-based format in 2005.

There is only one regular-season game left, giving Messi a strong chance to increase his goal tally and further cement his legacy in the league.
