Osun APC Executives Demand Review of Presidential Campaign Council List
Four leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have rejected the recently announced list of the Presidential Campaign Council. They are asking for an immediate review of the list, claiming it does not follow party guidelines.
The statement, released in Osogbo, the state capital, was signed by Wole Adunola, the State Publicity Secretary, Adesola Ayangbile, the Welfare Officer, Rasheed Adeniji, the Assistant Organising Secretary, and Abiola Ololade, an Ex-Officio member. They expressed concerns that many members of the State Working Committee were left out, despite being expected to be part of the council.
The executives pointed out that the list does not align with a previous directive that named Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Director-General of the council in Osun State. They emphasized that excluding recognized party officials raises issues about proper consultation and respect for the party’s leadership structure.
In their statement, they said, “We express our strong dissatisfaction with the composition of the list, which does not reflect established party guidelines and the principle of inclusiveness.” They also noted that if the list was meant for a different purpose, such as a Parliamentary Campaign Council, it should be clearly stated to avoid confusion.
The executives are calling for a review of the list that includes discussions with key party members, including Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary. They want to ensure that the campaign council respects party structures and includes all important stakeholders.
They reiterated their commitment to supporting the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but stressed that the current list needs to be revised to foster unity and effective campaigning.
Earlier, the Osun APC announced a 168-member campaign council aimed at boosting the party’s chances in the upcoming elections, with Bola Oyebamiji as the Director-General and Tajudeen Lawal as the Deputy Director-General.
