Sokoto State Seals ADC Campaign Office Over Ownership Dispute

The Sokoto State Government has sealed off a campaign office belonging to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) located on Ahmadu Bello Way in Sokoto city. This action was confirmed by Aminu Abdullahi, a media aide to the ADC’s governorship candidate.

According to Abdullahi, the state’s Commissioner for Land and Housing, Nasiru Dantsoho, delivered a letter to the office occupants asking for clarification on who actually owns the building. The ADC office is situated in a former Savanna Bank location, which was previously used by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Dantsoho stated that the government believes the property still belongs to the defunct Savanna Bank, which has been liquidated. He explained that any current occupants are considered illegal. The commissioner also mentioned that the government had contacted the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), the organization responsible for the property, to confirm its ownership but had not yet received a reply.

The sealing of the building was reportedly a precautionary measure following disturbances involving ADC supporters and other groups. Dantsoho emphasized that the government took this step to ensure safety and prevent further issues.

He urged anyone claiming ownership of the property to provide the necessary documents for verification. Until the ownership matter is resolved, the state government will maintain control of the building. Dantsoho warned that anyone trying to forcibly enter the sealed premises would face legal consequences.
