Oyo State Commissioner Comments on Recent Resignations from Makinde’s Government

The Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, has stated that the recent resignation of Barr Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration was not surprising.

In a statement released on Monday, Oyelade noted that Governor Makinde had anticipated this development. He suggested that while some supporters may feel let down by the resignations, the Governor has remained steadfast in his beliefs despite facing ongoing pressure.

Oyelade praised Makinde for his ability to maintain composure and conviction amidst what he called significant intimidation. He emphasized that the Governor’s actions send a strong message about the importance of following one’s conscience and truth.

He remarked, “The clear message that Governor Seyi Makinde is sending to all of us is that conscience is an open wound and only truth can heal it.” Oyelade also highlighted that Makinde is reassuring the people of Oyo State that courage and consistency are vital during political challenges.

According to Oyelade, the Governor’s stance is a reminder that cowardice and dishonesty are not virtues needed in politics, especially as the era of false promises and deceit is coming to an end.

Ojo’s resignation was officially communicated in a letter dated November 2, 2026, addressed to the Governor through the Secretary to the State Government.
