Atiku Abubakar Calls on Tinubu to Reveal Ministers Linked to Bribery Claims

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged President Bola Tinubu to name ministers who allegedly received large bribes to secure their appointments. This challenge follows a claim made by Alwan Hassan, a spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign.

Atiku made his demand in a post on social media, questioning who received the alleged payments. He criticized the Tinubu administration for the increasing cost of living and issues with funding for government ministries. He stated, “Nigerians deserve names, not silence,” referring to the allegations of bribery.

He also accused the government of making poor decisions that have worsened the cost-of-living crisis. Atiku pointed out that when funds are withheld from ministries due to distrust, it is the citizens who suffer the consequences.

Hassan made the bribery claims during an interview, stating that some ministers pay large sums to be appointed and then focus on recouping that money once in office. He noted that this practice is not exclusive to the current administration and has been happening for some time.

However, Hassan did not provide names of any ministers involved or specify who received the alleged bribes. In his defense of Tinubu’s administration, he highlighted various government initiatives in the power and education sectors as evidence of the administration’s efforts ahead of the upcoming 2027 general election.
