Wike Declares Abuja Open for Business, Targets Top Investment Hub Status

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is aggressively driving reforms to turn Abuja into Nigeria’s most investor-friendly business hub, while warning that land grabbers and fraudulent real estate operators will no longer be tolerated.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike gave the commitment at the opening of the Abuja Business and Investment Expo (ABIE) 3.0, organized by the Abuja Investments Company Limited (AICL).

Represented by the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Wike emphasized that ongoing urban renewal programs under President Bola Tinubu’s administration are laying a solid foundation for sustainable private sector investment.

However, the Minister issued a stern warning to speculators and illegal developers attempting to undermine the capital city’s master plan.

“Ease of doing business does not mean the absence of regulation,” Wike stated. “We will support and protect genuine investors, but we will not protect land speculators, fraudulent developers, or businesses that disregard the law.”

Highlighting administrative progress, Wike revealed that Abuja scored 61 percent to rank fourth nationwide in the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Ease of Doing Business report.

He assured local and foreign delegates that massive investments in roads, water systems, transport networks, and satellite town development will continue to expand business opportunities across all area councils in the FCT.
