US Secretary of State Claims Iran Has Lost Control of Hormuz Strait

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Wednesday that Iran has lost complete control of the Strait of Hormuz. He made these comments during a visit to Athens, emphasizing that the strait remains open for oil shipments.

Rubio noted that oil flow from the region is nearly the same as it was before recent conflicts. He attributed this change to what he described as crippling sanctions that have severely impacted Iran’s economy, which he claimed is in a state of total collapse.

According to Rubio, the Iranian government spends all its revenue on supporting groups like Hezbollah and Hamas. He expressed strong opposition to Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, stating, “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, simple, period, end of story.” He insisted that any agreement with Iran must guarantee that it will never develop nuclear capabilities.

Rubio also suggested that Iran is trying to build up its military strength to a point where it would be beyond reproach, making it difficult for other countries to respond to its actions.
