Tinubu Vows to Mobilise All Military Assets to Crush Threats, Announces Procurement of MRAPs and Refurbishment of Over 100 Armoured Vehicles
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu firmly restated his administration’s unwavering determination to decisively confront all forms of insecurity plaguing the nation, pledging to mobilize “all military and law enforcement assets” to ensure the protection of every Nigerian citizen.
The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, made the declaration while delivering the opening address at the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference 2025, held at the Nebo Hall, Abalti Barracks in Lagos State. He emphasized that national security is the foundational pillar upon which the administration’s entire Renewed Hope Agenda rests.
“There is no nation that can achieve greatness without security. This government remains resolute in mobilising all military and law enforcement assets to eliminate security threats and protect the lives and property of all Nigerians,” the President stated.
The address went beyond mere rhetoric, detailing the government’s concrete investments in military modernization. President Tinubu revealed that the administration has advanced the procurement of additional Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles, Armoured Vehicles, and Patrol Vehicles for the Army, noting that these platforms are essential for boosting troop protection and enhancing battlefield effectiveness. Furthermore, he disclosed a major maintenance success: the refurbishment of over one hundred Armoured Fighting Vehicles, which have now been returned to active service.
Other modernization efforts highlighted include continued investment following the recent induction of helicopters into the Nigerian Army Aviation and the expansion of training for pilots. President Tinubu also affirmed that the government is actively deepening partnerships with friendly nations to boost research, innovation, and local defense production, moving Nigeria closer to self-reliance in the security sector.
He concluded by commending the Armed Forces for their remarkable achievements in the fight against terrorism and banditry, charging the military to remain apolitical, disciplined, and professional while operating strictly within the law.
