TASUED Gets ₦700 Million Student Loan Windfall as 5,000 Prepare for Graduation

It’s a season of double celebration at the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) as the institution prepares to send over 5,000 students into the workforce with their school fees fully settled by the federal government.

The university’s management revealed that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has poured ₦700 million into the school’s accounts. This massive payment has effectively “rescued” 4,210 students who might have otherwise struggled to stay in school due to financial hardship. For these beneficiaries, the stress of tuition is officially a thing of the past for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This financial good news comes just as the “Premier University of Education” prepares for its 17th Convocation ceremony next week. A total of 5,141 graduates comprising both regular and postgraduate students will be receiving their degrees. Among the crowd of achievers, 40 exceptional students reached the peak of academic success with First Class honors. However, the name on everyone’s lips is Bukola Osunrinde, a Computer Science graduate who made history by achieving a flawless 5.0 CGPA.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adekunle Adeogun, couldn’t hide his pride during a recent briefing. He noted that the student loan scheme is a “lifeline” that has allowed thousands of students to focus on their exams rather than their bank balances. He also shared that the school is expanding its reach, with the National Universities Commission (NUC) giving the green light for 12 brand-new courses, ranging from Cyber Security to Entrepreneurship.

To add more glamour to the upcoming graduation, the university will be conferring honorary degrees on the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as well as the state governor, Dapo Abiodun.

With thousands of debt-free students and new courses on the way, the atmosphere at the Ijagun campus is one of pure excitement, proving that when the government and schools work together, the students are the biggest winners.
