Rivers State Police Rescue Kidnapped Man and Arrest Two Suspects
The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a man named Mr. Hassan, who was kidnapped on September 6, 2026. The police arrested two suspects connected to the crime.
According to the police, they received information about the kidnapping on September 7, shortly after Hassan was taken near Fidelity Bank in Port Harcourt. He was held for three days at Igbugulu Waterside before being released after his family paid a ransom of over ₦10 million.
Following the tip-off, the police’s Violent Crime Response Unit quickly began operations that led to the arrest of two men. The suspects are Victor Ifeanyi, 24, and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36, both of whom admitted to their involvement in the kidnapping. They revealed that their group has six members and used a white minibus during the crime.
The police are now working to capture the remaining members of the kidnapping gang. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, urged the public to share any information that could help in catching criminals, assuring them that tips would be kept confidential.
He emphasized that the police will continue to use intelligence-led operations to combat kidnapping and other crimes in the area, urging residents to stay calm and cooperate with law enforcement.
