President Tinubu Salutes Hausa People on World Hausa Day, Hails Language as Global Commerce Powerhouse

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to the Hausa community across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of World Hausa Day, praising the ethnic group’s pivotal role in preserving national unity and promoting trade.

In an official statement published across his social channels, the President paid tribute to the rich history and enduring influence of the Hausa people. President Tinubu described the Hausa people as “great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria,” recognizing their contributions to the nation’s socio-economic landscape.

The President also highlighted the global importance of the Hausa language, emphasizing how it has grown from a regional tongue into a major international vehicle for commerce and communication. Tinubu noted that the language continues to flourish across borders, connecting millions of speakers throughout West Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

The presidential message came as cultural groups, traditional institutions, and community leaders gathered at the historic Daura Palace in Katsina State for central celebrations. World Hausa Day originated as a social media movement launched by Nigerian journalist Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari to champion Hausa heritage online. Over the years, the grassroots initiative has transformed into an international annual observance celebrating Hausa literature, arts, and linguistic heritage worldwide.
