President Tinubu Approves Inclusion of Itawure-Aramoko-Ado and Aramoko-Ijero-Ifaki Roads in 2026 Federal Budget

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the inclusion of the construction of two major federal roads in Ekiti State in the Federal Government’s 2026 Appropriation Bill, a move that provides significant relief to motorists and commuters plagued by the deplorable condition of routes in the state.

The approval, which was announced today, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, targets the comprehensive construction of the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado Ekiti Road and the Aramoko-Ijero-Ifaki Ekiti Road.

According to a statement released by the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the decision was a direct result of the high-level visit by Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, where the urgent need for federal intervention on the state’s highways was discussed.

Oyebode confirmed that a letter detailing the President’s approval has already been transmitted to the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for implementation under the next fiscal year’s budget.

Enhancing Economic Connectivity

The Governor’s office emphasized that the construction of these two vital roads is expected to significantly ease travelling, enhance connectivity between communities and other states, and provide a much-needed boost to commercial activities in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Oyebanji, on behalf of the people of Ekiti State, expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the strategic and prompt intervention, noting that the development is a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the state.

This latest approval builds on the existing commitment of the Tinubu administration, which had previously awarded contracts for three other federal roads in Ekiti, with contractors already mobilized to the sites. The Ekiti State Government, under Governor Oyebanji, has also undertaken the construction of the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road, among several other state-level projects, in a concerted effort to revolutionize the state’s road network.
