Police Confirm 10 Persons Abducted in Isapa Community, Kwara, as Bandits Launch Attack Close to Eruku Church
The Kwara State Police Command today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, confirmed the abduction of ten persons following a fresh, violent bandit attack on the Isapa Community in the state. The attack, which occurred on Monday evening, is the latest incident highlighting the devastating insecurity plaguing the Kwara South senatorial district.
The Command Spokesperson, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed that the police received distress information about sporadic gunfire within the community at approximately 6:30 PM on Monday. Preliminary findings indicated that a group of armed men, suspected to be criminal herders, invaded the village around 6:05 PM, firing indiscriminately.
“Further investigations revealed that 10 persons were abducted,” the police statement noted. “A woman sustained a gunshot wound to her leg; she has since been treated and discharged.”
Police Intensify Search Operations
The attack comes despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent directive for a “total security cordon” over Kwara forests and the deployment of 24-hour aerial surveillance to flush out bandits and kidnappers operating in the North-Central region.
The Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, immediately visited Isapa Community to assess the situation on the ground. During his visit, the CP met with traditional rulers, including the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, assuring them of decisive action.
A massive search-and-rescue operation is now underway, involving combined teams of police tactical units and local vigilante groups actively combing the surrounding bushes and forests to rescue the abductees and apprehend the attackers. The community of Isapa is located just a few miles from Eruku, where 38 church worshippers were kidnapped last week, underscoring the relentless nature of the bandit threat in the area.
