Police in Plateau Arrest Two Suspects and Seize Three Firearms
The Plateau State Police have arrested two individuals and recovered three homemade firearms during recent operations aimed at improving safety in the region.
According to the police, these actions are part of ongoing efforts to prevent crime and reduce the spread of illegal weapons. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, shared details in a statement on Sunday.
The first suspect, Emmanuel Musa, 35, was arrested on September 17, 2026, during a routine patrol on Anguldi-Vom Road. Police found him with two locally made firearms: a rifle and a pistol. Investigations are still ongoing, and Musa is expected to face charges once the investigation is complete.
The second suspect, Daleng Victor, 27, was taken into custody on October 7, 2026. He was found with a homemade pistol by officers from the Safer Highways Patrol Unit at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru. Like Musa, Victor is under investigation and will also be charged later.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, expressed gratitude to the community for their support and for providing information that aids police efforts. He also thanked the Inspector-General of Police for the operational backing given to the command.
Faniyan reassured residents of the police’s commitment to maintaining order and safety. He encouraged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in preventing crime.
