Police Arrest Two Suspects After Kidnapping Victim Released in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two men suspected of kidnapping in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The arrests followed the payment of a ransom of ₦10.3 million by the victim’s family.

According to police spokesperson Blessing Agabe, the suspects are part of a six-member group that kidnapped a woman near a commercial bank on September 6, 2026. She was held for three days before her family paid the ransom.

Police acted quickly after receiving a distress call. They located the kidnappers’ hideout at a waterfront and arrested two suspects, identified as Victor Ifeanyi, 24, and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36. Both men confessed to their roles in the crime, revealing that the gang used a white mini-bus during the abduction.

The police are now working to capture the remaining members of the kidnapping group. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju urged the public to share any information that could help identify and catch criminals, promising that such tips would be kept confidential.

He also reassured residents that the police would continue to conduct operations aimed at disrupting kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
