Peter Obi Promises Immediate Action on Security, Corruption, and Poverty
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has pledged to take immediate action on security, corruption, hunger, and poverty if he is elected. He made this promise during a town hall meeting with supporters in Abakaliki.
Obi, who previously served as the governor of Anambra State, emphasized the need for strong leadership to achieve sustainable development in Nigeria. He believes the country has abundant farmland and resources that could boost the economy if utilized correctly.
He noted that Nigeria should focus more on producing goods rather than just consuming them, especially in agriculture and other productive areas. Regarding the government’s borrowing practices, Obi stated that borrowing itself is not bad but becomes an issue when funds are spent on non-essential items, like luxury yachts or planes.
He assured that his administration would maintain transparency in public borrowing, so citizens would understand why loans are taken and how they will be used. On the topic of security, Obi promised to use modern technology and effective strategies to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
Furthermore, he vowed to hold accountable anyone found guilty of corruption, including high-ranking officials. Obi envisions a Nigeria where success is based on merit, allowing anyone to rise regardless of their background.
Expressing confidence in his candidacy, Obi described himself as the most credible choice among the leading presidential candidates, which include President Bola Tinubu and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. He encouraged Nigerians to actively engage in the upcoming elections and ensure their votes are protected.
