Olubadan Ladoja Urges Nigerians to Unite Against Extremism, Warns Terrorists See All as ‘Prey’

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, today, Sunday, November 9, 2025, issued a passionate call for national unity, urging Nigerians to set aside differences and jointly fight terrorism and extremism to a standstill. The paramount ruler declared that the current security crisis, amplified by recent international threats, must be viewed as a decisive “wake-up call.”

The monarch made the powerful statement while receiving the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, in Ibadan.

Oba Ladoja observed that Nigeria has been grappling with the scourge of terrorism for over a decade, resulting in the destruction of property, massive displacement of families, and countless deaths.

The Terrorist Agenda is Indiscriminate

The Olubadan delivered a critical warning about the nature of the enemy: “I want to caution that terrorists don’t know the difference between Muslims and Christians. They see everybody as prey, while they are the predator.”

He noted that while successive administrations, including those of former President Jonathan, former President Buhari, and the incumbent President Bola Tinubu, have all committed vast resources to fighting insecurity, the protracted conflict has left many citizens understandably aggrieved.

In a direct appeal to the Christian community, particularly through the PFN President, Oba Ladoja asked for assistance in “placating our Christian brethren who are understandably aggrieved,” assuring them of his firm conviction that the current difficult times would eventually pass. He highlighted the deeply rooted harmonious coexistence between different faiths in South-Western Nigeria as the standard of unity that should be replicated nationwide.

The monarch’s message emphasizes that the only effective response to extremism is a unified national front that recognizes the common threat and resists all attempts, whether internal or external, to divide Nigerians along religious lines.
