Ogun Lawmaker Commends Tinubu for Upgrading Ilaro Polytechnic to Federal University

Otunba Bisi Oyedele, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the bill that upgrades the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI). This legislative milestone is seen as a significant advancement in the educational and economic landscape of Ogun West Senatorial District.

In a statement released on Friday, Oyedele highlighted that the transformation of the 46-year-old institution into a university fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the Yewa people. He emphasized that this development would enhance access to quality tertiary education and stimulate socioeconomic growth in the region.

The lawmaker also lauded Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, representing Ogun West, for his instrumental role in sponsoring and advocating for the bill’s passage. Oyedele noted that the establishment of FUTI positions Ogun West on equal footing with other senatorial districts in the state, which already host federal universities.

The upgrade has been met with widespread acclaim from various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, educational administrators, and student bodies, all of whom recognize the potential benefits for the region’s development.

The Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, is expected to commence operations in the upcoming academic session, offering programs aimed at fostering technological innovation and addressing the educational needs of the community.
