Obidients Warn Wike Against Interfering in 2027 Elections
The Obidient Movement has issued a warning to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, about interfering in the upcoming 2027 general elections. They are calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to ensure that the elections are free, fair, and credible.
Concerns arose after Wike announced that he would lead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State. The Obidient Movement stated that no politician or party should dictate the outcome of elections before voters have a chance to cast their ballots.
Wike declared himself the commander of Tinubu’s campaign in these areas, asserting control over political operations. In response, the Obidient Movement emphasized that managing a campaign does not give anyone ownership over voters or the electoral process.
They stressed that both Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory belong to the people, not to Wike, Tinubu, or any political party. The movement insisted that it is the citizens who have the right to choose their leaders through a fair electoral process.
The group urged Wike and other politicians to focus on campaigning and let the voters decide the outcome. They suggested that if Wike believes in the APC’s chances, he should present Tinubu’s record to the public and accept the voters’ decision.
Additionally, the Obidient Movement called on election officials and security forces to ensure fairness in the electoral process. They warned that any attempt to manipulate the elections would be considered a serious offense.
They encouraged Nigerians to stay vigilant, protect their votes, and report any irregularities. The movement reminded everyone that electoral violations should have consequences, regardless of the political status of those involved. They emphasized that the upcoming elections are not a personal contest but a right of the Nigerian people.
