Nigerian Navy Seizes 80,000 Litres of Stolen Crude Oil and Arrests Three Suspects

The Nigerian Navy has recovered about 80,000 litres of stolen crude oil and arrested three suspected drug traffickers in the Niger Delta. This operation took place between Monday and Tuesday, involving a joint effort with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to a statement from the Navy, the first operation occurred in the Oteghele community, where personnel found a large dug-out reservoir containing 30,000 litres of crude oil. The second operation took place in Obodo Omadino, where an additional 50,000 litres of crude oil was discovered.

In addition to the oil recovery, the Navy and NDLEA also targeted suspected drug activities in the Warri area. This led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 15 kilograms of cannabis, along with cocaine and crystal meth.

The suspects and the seized items are currently in the custody of the NDLEA for further investigation. Commodore Shehu Tasiu, the Commander of NNS Delta, highlighted that this operation shows the Navy’s commitment to tackling various forms of crime, including crude oil theft and drug trafficking.

He described the successful operations as a significant step in the fight against criminal activities in the Niger Delta. The Navy aims to address these issues with professionalism under the guidance of Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Chief of the Naval Staff.
