Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has established the framework to create three million jobs for Nigerian youth through the Three Million Technical Talent Programme (3MTT). This was revealed in a statement by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, which was obtained on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Nigeria Police Youth Summit in Abuja on Monday, Idris, who was represented by the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mallam Jibrin Ndace, highlighted that the 3MTT programme, led by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Technology, is designed to equip youths with the education and skills necessary to enhance their contributions to national security intelligence.
Idris stated, “The 3MTT Programme reflects President Tinubu’s vision of integrating youth development into the broader national development strategy. By prioritizing the economic security of Nigerian youths, this administration aims to build a more secure and prosperous country.” He also noted the significance of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, a presidential initiative aimed at positively impacting the educational pursuits of Nigerian youth.
Addressing the issue of high transportation costs, Idris mentioned that President Tinubu’s introduction of the Compressed Natural Gas policy aims to reduce transportation expenses by up to 70% by leveraging the nation’s abundant gas resources. He urged the youth to take advantage of government policies to enhance their personal comfort, economic growth, and empowerment.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the importance of youth embracing the necessary morals and values to fulfill their roles in national security intelligence. He also warned about the national security risks associated with spreading fake news, disinformation, and misinformation, stressing that such actions are a serious abuse of the freedom of expression, which the current administration upholds.
Idris added, “The renaissance in national security intelligence among our youths requires a value reorientation. The upcoming Nigeria’s Values Charter, initiated by this administration and led by the National Orientation Agency, will provide a blueprint for a national value system, defining our identity as Nigerians and strengthening our roles as citizens.”
He concluded by underscoring the connection between disinformation and significant national security threats, such as incitement to anarchy, transnational crimes, terrorism, banditry, and cyberattacks, and reminded the youth of the crucial role they play in safeguarding the nation’s security.
