Oyo Governor Makinde Urges Nigerians to Collect Voter Cards for 2027 Elections

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is encouraging Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the 2027 general elections. He made this appeal in a video posted on his social media accounts, where he showed off his own PVC.

In the video, Makinde stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will start PVC collection on October 9, 2026. He emphasized the importance of having a PVC, saying it gives citizens the power to choose their leaders.

“This is your power. Irrespective of who you want to vote for, let’s go out, collect your PVC, and you will use it wisely,” he said, urging everyone to participate in the electoral process.

Makinde is also running for president in the 2027 elections as the candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement. He was selected for this role in May 2026 and has begun his campaign efforts.

On Tuesday, his campaign organization set up a National Campaign Management Committee in Abuja, aiming to secure between 41 million and 68 million votes in the upcoming election. Makinde, who has been the governor since 2019 and was re-elected in 2023, hopes to succeed President Bola Tinubu.
