Makinde Declares 2027 Will Be a Decisive Showdown Between APC and Suffering Nigerians

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has reframed the narrative surrounding the upcoming 2027 general elections, declaring that the presidential ballot will transcend regular party politics to become a referendum between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the generality of the Nigerian people.

Speaking during a high-level political engagement, Makinde noted that the prevailing economic hardship, soaring inflation, and mounting cost-of-living crises have fundamentally altered the political landscape. He argued that framing the election as a mere contest between political platforms misses the larger picture of public discontent.

“The next election will not be about party versus party; it will be APC versus Nigerians,” Makinde stated.

Addressing the wave of political defections and realignments sweeping across the country, the governor downplayed the impact of elite horse-trading, maintaining that the ordinary citizens market traders, struggling youths, civil servants, and farmers are the ones who ultimately feel the pinch of governance and will dictate the outcome at the polls.

Makinde’s remarks have added fresh fuel to national debates, challenging opposition parties to present credible alternatives while urging the electorate to utilize their votes to demand a comprehensive socio-economic reset come 2027.
