Local Oil Sellers Team Up With Dangote to Slash Petrol Prices to Under ₦739; See When the Drop Hits Your Nearest Station!
There is finally some good news for Nigerian drivers. The Independent Petroleum Marketers (IPMAN) have officially shaken hands with the Dangote Refinery to start buying petrol directly, and they say this move is going to crash the price of fuel at the pump.
For a long time, marketers had to jump through several hoops and pay extra fees to get fuel. But now, by buying straight from the source in Lagos, they can cut out the “extra baggage” that makes petrol expensive. IPMAN leaders are confidently predicting that we could see prices fall to less than ₦739 per liter very soon.
Why the sudden drop? It’s all about the math. Since the petrol is being made right here in Nigeria at the Dangote Refinery, there are no crazy import duties or international shipping costs. By loading directly into their own trucks and ships, these independent marketers can pass those savings straight to you at the filling station.
While prices are still high right now, experts say you should start seeing the change in about a week or two. As more stations get this “direct” petrol, the competition will likely force everyone else to lower their prices too.
It’s been a tough few years for Nigerians at the fuel stations, but this new partnership might finally be the light at the end of the tunnel for our transport costs.
