Kukawa Local Government Holds Mass Wedding for Ten Vulnerable Couples
The Chairman of Kukawa Local Government Area in Borno state, Mustapha Kukawa, has organized a mass wedding for ten couples from the Baga and Doro communities. This event took place recently and aimed to support vulnerable couples in these areas.
According to a statement from the Kukawa Local Government media team, the chairman provided all necessary items for the weddings. This included dowries, arrangements for guardians, kolanuts, sweets, and fees for religious leaders. The initiative is in line with Islamic traditions.
The mass wedding, known as Fatiha, is intended to promote morality and help prevent social issues among the youth in the community. This event is reportedly the first of its kind in Borno state in recent years, with plans for more similar events in the future.
In the evening, a festive gathering called Walima was held to celebrate the occasion, drawing a large crowd. Family members of the couples expressed their gratitude to the chairman for his support.
The ceremony was attended by various community members, including local government officials, traditional leaders, and political supporters, who praised the chairman for his efforts to uphold the dignity of the couples.
