Keyamo Responds to Claims That Tinubu’s Speech Was Pre-Recorded

Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has criticized claims from opposition figures that President Bola Tinubu’s speech at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council was pre-recorded. Keyamo made his comments on social media, highlighting that the event was broadcast live by various media outlets.

During his post, Keyamo referenced past conspiracy theories, including one about former President Muhammadu Buhari, to emphasize the absurdity of the current claims. He expressed disbelief at the suggestion that Tinubu’s appearance was not genuine, noting that both local and international press were present to cover the event live.

The inauguration took place on Wednesday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, as the APC ramps up its preparations for the 2027 general election. Tinubu leads the council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as vice-chairmen. Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari serves as the Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma is the secretary.

Keyamo urged the council members to work hard to mobilize voters in their areas, reminding them that their success in the upcoming election depends on securing votes. The APC plans to kick off its campaign rally on October 24 in Kaduna State.

The controversy began when activist Chidi Odinkalu questioned the authenticity of Tinubu’s address, suggesting that it appeared to be pre-recorded. In response, Keyamo did not mention Odinkalu directly but expressed concern over the mental state of some opposition members. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga also defended Tinubu, accusing Odinkalu of letting bias influence his perspective.
