Kebbi Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover Cattle, Arrest Drug Suspects
Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma successfully rescued a kidnapped resident and recovered 18 stolen cattle in Kebbi State on October 18. The operations involved collaboration with local vigilantes and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the task force, troops responded to a distress call about an attack on Rambo Village in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. The attackers were reported to be terrorists aiming to abduct residents and steal cattle.
During the operation, the troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle, successfully rescuing a 40-year-old man named Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara. The rescued man and the recovered cattle were handed over to the district head of Rambo Village for further action.
In a separate operation, troops worked with NDLEA personnel to raid locations suspected of drug trafficking in the Dakin Kowa, Karaye, and Gubba communities within the Maiyama Local Government Area. This led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of substances believed to be illegal drugs.
The suspects and the drugs were taken to the NDLEA command in Maiyama for investigation. Lt.-Col. Danja emphasized the task force’s commitment to fighting terrorism and other criminal activities, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to support these efforts.
