Israel DMW Mourns as Father, a Retired Police Chief, Dies at 71; Davido’s Camp Thrown into Mourning

Tragedy has hit the inner circle of Afrobeats icon Davido, as his loyal logistics manager, Israel DMW, announced the passing of his father, Mr. Afeare Eric. The retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) breathed his last on Monday, March 2, 2026, at a medical facility in Ibadan after a short battle with an undisclosed illness.

Israel DMW, known for his energetic “State of Harmony” and unwavering loyalty to his boss, took to social media on Friday to share his grief with millions of followers. Confirming the news in a somber telephone chat, Israel described his 71-year-old father as the “indivisible unit” that held their family together. “It is sad losing my father at this time. We still need him with us, but God knows best,” he remarked, reflecting on the man he called his ultimate strength.

The late Mr. Eric, an indigene of Edo State, lived a life of service in the Nigerian Police Force before retiring to private life. He leaves behind a large family, including two wives and eight children. Since the news broke, the “30 Billion Gang” (30BG) and the wider Nigerian entertainment community have rallied around Israel, offering prayers and tributes to the man who raised one of the most recognizable faces in Davido’s management team.

As burial arrangements are expected to be announced by the Afeare family in the coming days, fans have turned Israel’s comment sections into a “digital wake,” honoring the retired DSP and wishing his son the fortitude to bear the massive loss.
