INEC Releases Final Candidate List for Ogun Governorship Election, PDP Names Missing

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. However, the list does not include the names of Ladi Adebutu, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or his running mate, Alhaja Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo.

This official document, which was made public on Saturday, includes candidates from thirteen political parties. The PDP is notably absent from this list, raising concerns about their participation in the upcoming election.

INEC has not explained why the names of the PDP candidates are missing. If this situation is not corrected, the PDP will not have a candidate for either the governorship or deputy governorship positions in Ogun State.

When asked about the omission, Architect Kayode Adebayo, the State Publicity Secretary for the PDP, stated that the party had not yet confirmed the report. He said, “We are yet to confirm the report. We cannot say anything for now.”
