Governor Otu Launches Cross River Diaspora Commission to Strengthen Global Engagement and Development
In a strategic move to harness the potential of its citizens abroad, Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, officially inaugurated the Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM) on May 13, 2025, in Calabar. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between the state and its diaspora community, fostering collaboration for the state’s socio-economic advancement.
Governor Otu emphasized the importance of engaging Cross Riverians worldwide, stating that the commission will serve as a vital link to encourage investments, cultural exchanges, and partnerships that align with the state’s development goals. He remarked, “Our diaspora community holds immense potential, and through CRIDCOM, we aim to tap into their expertise and resources for the betterment of our state.”
The newly appointed Chairman of CRIDCOM, Otu Okor, called on Cross Riverians in the diaspora to actively participate in the state’s growth initiatives. He highlighted plans to establish a comprehensive database of diaspora professionals and investors, facilitating targeted engagement and collaboration.
