The Governor of Plateau State, Mutfwang, spoke at the 115th anniversary of the First Baptist Church on Adebayo Street in Jos. The celebration was themed “Advancing Through Impactful Celebration.”

Governor Mutfwang praised the church for its long history of service to both God and the community. He expressed hope that the church’s legacy would inspire ongoing spiritual growth and positive contributions to society. He said, “115 years is a significant accomplishment, and we pray that the Lord will complete this good work in Jesus’ name.”

He emphasized the importance of preaching the message of Christ, stating, “Only by preaching Christ and Him crucified will the Gospel thrive.”

The Governor also congratulated Reverend David Olushola Idowu, who was recently elected as the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. Mutfwang prayed that Idowu’s leadership would bring about a revival that would extend beyond the Baptist community.

In his sermon, Reverend Idowu focused on Psalm 100:4 and encouraged the congregation to seek God’s presence for spiritual growth. He highlighted the blessings of enlightenment and renewed strength that come from being close to God.

The anniversary celebration included praise and worship, special prayers, and the cutting of an anniversary cake. Many church members, past and present pastors, government officials, and other guests attended the event.
