FRSC Records 100% Conviction Rate in Ogun Mobile Court; 25 Motorists Penalized for Speeding, Overloading, and License Infractions

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has intensified its enforcement of road traffic regulations, recording a total conviction of all motorists brought before its mobile court on Wednesday. The session, held in Abeokuta, saw 25 traffic offenders prosecuted for a variety of safety breaches, highlighting the command’s renewed focus on sanitizing the state’s highways.

Presided over by Chief Magistrate O.T. Odubanjo at the RS2.2 Sector Command headquarters, the court evaluated 46 documented offenses ranging from critical safety violations to administrative irregularities. According to the Sector’s Public Relations Officer, Odunsi Afolabi, the 100 percent conviction rate underscores the precision of the corps’ field operations and the judiciary’s support in holding reckless drivers accountable. The violations prominently featured the absence of speed-limiting devices, driving with expired or invalid licenses, and the persistent issue of overloading.

Reacting to the outcome, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, described the mobile court as a vital tool in the agency’s strategy to curb road fatalities. He noted that the “zero-discharge” result serves as a stern warning to motorists that the command remains vigilant. “This exercise is not just about penalties; it is a deterrent designed to protect lives and property,” Ogunjobi stated. He added that the command will continue to maintain a zero-tolerance approach to infractions that endanger public safety.

While the court imposed fines on all convicted individuals, no custodial sentences were handed down during this session. The FRSC has indicated that mobile court sittings will continue to be deployed across major operational corridors in Ogun State to ensure that the standards for road safety are maintained, particularly as the administration targets a significant reduction in highway accidents by the end of the 2026 fiscal year.
