Four Vigilantes Killed by Gunmen in Plateau State Community

Gunmen attacked Shurum village in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing four vigilantes who were protecting their community. The attack happened around midnight on Friday.

A local resident, Mr. Bulus Bature, reported that the vigilantes were on duty when the attackers struck. He expressed sorrow over the incident, stating, “It is painful that people who volunteered to protect their community could be attacked and killed while carrying out their duty.”

Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, confirmed the deaths and condemned the attack. He said, “It is unfortunate that our people, who were keeping watch over their community, were targeted and killed.”

Tengwong called for an urgent investigation by security agencies to bring those responsible to justice. He emphasized the need for better security measures, saying, “Our people cannot continue to live in fear while those volunteering to protect their communities are being attacked and killed.”

As of now, attempts to get a response from security officials about the incident have not been successful.
