First Lady Remi Tinubu Pays Homage to Sultan of Sokoto, Praising His Fatherly Backing for Tinubu’s Reforms

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has paid high tribute to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, thanking the revered traditional leader for his steady counsel and firm backing of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The First Lady led a delegation to the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto to formally appreciate the monarch for his fatherly role since the inception of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Recalling a relationship between their families that spans nearly two decades, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted that the Sultan’s wisdom has consistently provided moral clarity and direction during key moments of national decision-making.

Speaking at the palace reception, the First Lady made it clear that traditional institutions remain vital partners in steering the country toward peace and economic recovery.

“The Sultan is always pointing the administration in the right direction,” Senator Oluremi Tinubu stated during the palace visit. “This visit is primarily to thank him for his consistent fatherly support and guidance, which has continued to keep us on the right path as we work to build a better future for every Nigerian family.”

Responding to the delegation, the Sultan of Sokoto lauded the First Lady for her humanitarian interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). The monarch observed that the foundation’s targeted empowerment schemes, agricultural support, and educational grants have brought direct relief to millions of women, youths, and children across all six geopolitical zones.

Addressing the nation’s security situation, the Sultan called on leaders and citizens to remain steadfast in prayer for the country. He urged the public to continuously seek divine intervention against criminal elements troubling rural communities, expressing hope that those perpetrating violence across the country would embrace genuine repentance and turn to peaceful livelihoods.

Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, who accompanied the First Lady to the palace, commended Mrs. Tinubu for her grassroots compassion, noting that her social welfare programs complement the state government’s poverty alleviation goals. The governor added that the warm reception reinforces the enduring unity between the Sokoto Caliphate, the state government, and the Federal Executive.
