Ekiti State Nursing College to Induct First Class of Graduates

The College of Nursing Services at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti is set to induct its first group of graduates. A total of 109 students will be recognized for completing their nursing training on Thursday, according to the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Kayode Olabanji.

Prof. Olabanji emphasized the college’s goal of producing skilled healthcare professionals to help alleviate workforce shortages in Nigeria’s health sector. He noted that the college has been training competent nurses, midwives, and public health nurses since its establishment in 2022, following an upgrade from the previous School of Nursing and Midwifery.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) will conduct the induction ceremony, which is a significant milestone for the graduates. This event will officially recognize them as trained, certified, and licensed professionals, allowing them to practice not only in Nigeria but also internationally.

Prof. Olabanji pointed out that the college aims to address the shortage of healthcare workers, which has been worsened by many professionals leaving the country. He stated, “EKSUTH College of Nursing Services has now risen to that challenge to bridge that gap.”

Dr. Olabisi Awe, the Provost of the college, mentioned that the institution is equipped with modern facilities and skilled staff to provide high-quality training. She expressed gratitude to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the NMCN, and Prof. Olabanji for their support in achieving the college’s goals.
