Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Okiye, as the pioneer Chairman of the newly established Edo State Lottery Regulatory Commission.
The appointment was officially announced in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Okhilor. The move underscores the State Government’s commitment to creating robust regulatory frameworks for key sectors of the economy.
The newly created Commission is conceived as the central regulatory body for all lottery, gaming, and related activities within Edo State. Its core mandate is to provide the necessary legal and institutional framework for regulating lottery and gaming operations, with a strong focus on ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in all activities.
The selection of Hon. Okiye, a prominent political figure and former Speaker, to head the pioneer leadership of this commission signals the administration’s intent to give the body significant institutional weight and political backing as it sets out to sanitise and oversee the state’s gaming industry.
